FAQs

How far in advance should I order a cake?

For wedding cakes, get in touch as soon as possible to ensure availability. I can then hold the date for you while you make a final decision. For smaller celebration cakes, a few weeks in advance is advised but it’s always worth enquiring for last minute order.

Do you do tastings?

I offer in person or postal tasters for wedding cakes. In person are charged at £10 per flavour and take place at my kitchen in Clerkenwell. Postal tasters are charged at £10 per flavour + £8.85 postage. I will confirm a suitable delivery day with you and ask you to try the cakes on the day you receive them.

Do you supply cake stands?

Your wedding cake will come on a covered board but I do not provide a cake stand. Most caterers or venues have stands available to hire. I am happy to discuss which type of stand will work best with your chosen cake design. Celebration cakes are displayed on a silver foil board unless an alternative is requested.

Can I have a cake topper?

Yes! I can supply a cake topper to fit the cake design. Let me know what you have in mind and I can source something suitable.

Do you cater for guests with allergies?

I have many gluten free, dairy free and vegan cake options however it should be noted that my kitchen handles the top 14 allergens so while every care is taken, I cannot guarantee that cakes are suitable for those with allergies.  The same goes for nuts – I would not recommend that anyone who suffers with a nut allergy has one of my cakes.

Where should the cake be stored?

If being served on the same day as delivery, you can keep cakes in a cool room, out of the fridge, unless it is very hot. If it is a very hot day, keep your cake in the fridge until an hour before serving. If your cake is for the following day, keep in the fridge overnight and remove about an hour before serving.

Do you do red velvet?

I’m afraid I don’t do red velvet or any other coloured sponge as they require artificial food colouring which is not something I use.

Do you make novelty cakes?

All my cakes are made with buttercream, not fondant and I do not make character cakes or similar. I am always happy to work on a design that ties in with a particular theme or colour but the cake will be in line with my usual aesthetics so please check my Instagram or website images for an idea of my style.
